• Are You Ready for It?

There are a lot of conversations right now about how the gospel has been so openly spoken, proclaimed, and explained since the death of Charlie Kirk. Hallelujah!

Many speak of a revival that has been ignited. That would be a huge blessing to our nation! Hallelujah!

There has been a lot of conversation stirred within the Christian Church about theology. Are we living by conservative values or, as God calls us to, by Biblical values and laws? Many seem to want to get more aligned with scripture than a political party. Hallelujah! (It’s about time!).

When Christ gave us the Great Commission, He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28:18-20). (Emphasis  mine.)

This commission calls for a lot of time and attention to others and I do not believe He was only speaking to those headed for a foreign mission field. The discipling and teaching is every Christian’s responsibility (in due time).

“Are we ready?” This is the question we all need to ask ourselves. As an older woman commanded to teach the younger women, and someone who watches as older men seek (of fail to seek) out younger men to disciple them, it needs to be asked; “are we ready?”

How about our churches? Are (the corporate) “we” ready for a revival where our churches fill up with a lot of brand new believers with various understandings of the Truth of the scriptures?

As we have seen with our children, Sunday morning teaching and preaching is very helpful, but in order for a Christian to learn that the whole Bible applies to the whole of our lives, they need discipling. This can be one on one or in a group but the fruit comes for most when they are free to ask the specific questions with which they struggle.

So many times over several years of talking to women’s ministry leaders, I have heard stories of the reluctance of the women of the church to step up, willing to teach and train the younger women the basics of being wives, mothers, and generally faithful women. Those vacancies will loom larger unless we, as a Church of Jesus Christ, start to live out His commandments as He has called us.

With this obedience, look at the promise Christ makes; “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” John 14:15-16

Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot “teach and train” others. Without the active participation of the Church of Jesus Christ, if there is a revival, many will be left in a state of shallow faith or they may walk away.

Being ready means being prepared. If, in His grace and by His will, God sends a whole group of new believers to our local assemblies, are you, am I, and are our churches, prepared to teach the Word of God, minister to their needs, and live according to His Word as examples?

If we’re doing it for a few, we will be able to figure out how to do it for many. But, if we are not doing it for any, how will we know what to do with many?
